FAQs
What type wax is used in cëria candles?
All cëria candles are made from 100% soy wax and are hand poured and hand packaged in Cyprus.
What is Soy Wax?
Soy wax is a vegetable wax made from the oil of soybeans. After harvesting, the beans are cleaned, cracked, de-hulled, and rolled into flakes. The oil is then extracted from the flakes and hydrogenated. This makes soy wax a 100% sustainable and renewable resource, as opposed to the most common wax on the market, paraffin, which is made from petroleum. Petroleum is a nonrenewable source that contains carcinogenic substances which are harmful to our bodies. We say hands down to eco-friendly candles!
What are the benefits of candles made from soy wax?
- Longer lasting
In addition to sustainability, soy wax candles will burn more slowly in comparison with paraffin candles. This is due to the fact that soy wax has a lower melting point than paraffin wax thus allowing them to burn slower and thus last longer.
- Cleaner Burning
Their natural source means no toxins, or pollutants, making them much healthier for us and the environment. They also emit much less soot.
- Stronger Smelling
- Biodegradable and water soluble
What kind of wicks are used in cëria candles?
We use both cotton and wood wicks, take a pick!
Why could soy wax candles sometimes present discoloration or frosting?
Your hand poured soy candle comes from natural resources, making it only natural to present some air bubbles or discoloration. Frosting or aka crystallizing is very common in soy candles or vegetable waxes in general, due to their natural substances. They are perfectly normal effects of soy wax and an additional confirmation that that you have purchased a 100% natural soy wax candle. This does not affect the candle's performance or scent throw in any way.
